"Where Community Comes First"
The vision of 153 local investors came together on August 4, 1997 when First Community Bank opened for business at 710 St. Louis Street in Batesville, Arkansas with 14 employees and $3.5 million in capital. The original 14 employees had strong banking backgrounds and a determination to become the bank of choice. The bank’s slogan “Where Community Comes First” quickly became the guiding force that set First Community Bank apart.
Through local decision-making and a genuine interest in the financial wellbeing of the communities served, First Community Bank quickly became a bank known for putting customers and community first. The tremendous growth resulted in the need for additional locations and so the expansion story began chapter by chapter.
In March of 1999, First Community opened a loan processing office in Searcy while waiting for branch approval. A new full-service Searcy banking office located at 2307 W. Beebe Capps opened on June 29, 1999 in the Charlestowne Shopping Center. Rapid growth prompted the decision to build a larger facility in Searcy. On May 2, 2002 the bank celebrated the grand opening of a new two-story, 14,000 square foot facility at 2401 West Beebe Capps Expressway. Also, in May 2002, a new location at 2801 East Race Street was officially opened.
The bank purchased land in Southside, and the grand opening of a 2,000 square foot facility at 1 Allen Chapel Road was held on June 18, 1999.
Groundbreaking for our Eagle Mountain Branch in Batesville took place in the spring of 2002. The new 2,000 square foot facility opened at 3 Eagle Mountain Boulevard on October 8, 2002.
Groundbreaking for a new 43,000 square foot main bank building located on the corner of St. Louis and Harrison Streets took place on May 14, 2002. The new main bank opened for business on September 2, 2003 and is now “The Cornerstone of Our Community.”
On July 19, 2004, First Community opened a branch in Cave City in a temporary building while a new 2,100 square foot building was being constructed. A grand opening for the new building at 102 South Main Street was held on July 25, 2005.
The bank continued to expand in White County by operating from a temporary facility at 157 Hwy. 67 in Bald Knob. On January 6, 2006, construction began on a new 2,500 square foot facility. The grand opening for the new facility was held on April 27, 2007.
In 2007 new branches were opened in Highland and Cabot. The Highland branch at 1536 Hwy. 62/412 officially opened on July 25, 2007 and the Cabot branch at 3084 Bill Foster Memorial Hwy. opened on October 1, 2007. In 2008, a mortgage loan office was opened in Northeastern Arkansas in Jonesboro at 708-B Windover.
On May 19, 2008, First Community expanded into Missouri with the acquisition of Goodman State Bank. The merger of Goodman State Bank was official on July 21, 2008. This resulted in three locations including 127 E. Main in Goodman, 230 W. Spring in Neosho and 56 Wright Hill Lane in Jane.
Cabot celebrated the grand opening of a new permanent facility on September 24, 2009, and Race Street cut the ribbon on a new 4,560 square foot state-of-the-art facility on October 29, 2009.
First Community signed an agreement to purchase the Mountain Home branch of Community First National Bank located at 310 Hwy. 62 E. on October 23, 2009. The purchase was finalized on February 22, 2010, and this became our fourteenth banking location.
The southwest Misouri region celebrated the grand opening of a second full-service branch in Neosho on August 30, 2011. The new state-of-the-art Neosho facility is located at 3005 Gardner Edgewood Drive.
On December 9, 2011, the Goodman, MO branch moved to a new facility located at 110 E. Main Street. The building features many antiques of the former historic location, as well as artifacts from the town and surrounding area.
In early 2014, First Community Bank expanded, opening two additional full-service branches. Joining the Jonesboro, Arkansas stand-alone mortgage loan office, the organization opened a full service branch at 1617 S. Caraway Road on January 27. The grand opening celebration for the Jonesboro location was held on February 28, 2014.
A fourth Searcy branch, the fifth in White County, opened on January 27 at 800 E. Beebe Capps Expressway, near Harding University. The grand opening celebration was held on March 7, 2014. Artwork for the branch was submitted by Harding Students, Alumni, and employees.
