Preparations are in full swing for the Ninth Annual Howard L. House Memorial Golf Tournament, which will take place August 2 and 3 at The Course at Eagle Mountain in Batesville. The tournament, proudly presented by First Community Bank, continues its mission of supporting the Children’s Advocacy Center of Independence County through a weekend of friendly competition and community generosity.

Created in memory of Howard L. House—a respected businessman, mentor, and lifelong advocate for children—the tournament serves as a meaningful tribute to his passion for helping others and his belief in creating safe spaces for children to thrive.

“Howard’s legacy lives on through this event and the incredible work it supports,” said Dale Cole, chairman and chief executive officer of First Community Bank. “He was the kind of person who didn’t just talk about change—he made it happen. It’s a privilege to honor him by contributing to a cause he would have stood behind wholeheartedly.”

The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Independence County, which opened in 2018, offers a safe, child-focused environment for young victims of abuse. As the 17th CAC in Arkansas and part of a national network of over 700 centers, it provides services that help reduce the trauma of abuse and begin the healing process. The local center serves children in Independence, Izard, Stone, Sharp, and Fulton Counties.

“My father would be proud to know that something bearing his name is helping children find safety, support, and justice,” said Dianne Lamberth, House’s daughter and board member emeritus of the Children’s Advocacy Center. “This tournament has grown into more than just a golf event—it’s a symbol of hope and community commitment.”

The CAC board of directors includes a dedicated team of business leaders: Kyle Christopher (president), Jimmy Hodges (vice president), Jason Taylor (treasurer), Dr. Katie Yarnell MD (secretary), Stu Smith, Deborah Goodwin, Brent Qualls, Micah Moody DNP/APRN/FNP-C, and Johnathon Burgess. Emeritus board members include Dianne Lamberth, Beatrice Moore, Janis Walmsley, Dr. Pat Mulick Ph.D., and Arlene Martin.
