First Community Bank employees came together in September to support Arkansas Children’s Hospital during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Through their collective efforts, employees raised $12,550.46, and the bank contributed an additional $5,500, resulting in a record-setting total donation of $18,050.46 to benefit the hospital’s cancer unit.

“We are so grateful for the generosity and creativity of our teams across the footprint,” said Mary Henderson, senior vice president, loan review assistant manager, and co-chair of the bank’s childhood cancer awareness committee. “This cause is close to our hearts and seeing everyone rally to set an all-time high speaks volumes about our culture of caring.” Henderson added that the monthlong effort included Blue Jean Fridays, a coins-for-cancer contest, and a bake sale with a silent auction, along with numerous branch-led ideas that “made a big difference.”

“Our employees continue to inspire us,” said Boris Dover, president and chief operating officer. “Their passion for helping children and families in Arkansas is exactly what community banking is about, and we’re proud to add the bank’s $5,500 contribution to amplify their impact.”

Throughout the effort, the bank’s childhood cancer awareness committee coordinated activities across First Community Bank locations and consisted of Amanda Teague, Miyah Merced, Wendy Hurt, Lindy Hopper, and Nikki Bittle, and was led by Henderson and Pat Rutherford.
