During the month of May, the Conway Fire Department along with other Central Arkansas first responders will be conducting training exercises in the vacant buildings owned by First Community Bank at 766 Harkrider in downtown Conway.

The buildings will be razed in a few months just prior to the construction of the new state of the art banking center. These buildings are the former location of Second Baptist Church and most recently the Ministry Center and City Church.

“We have never been able to train in a facility of this magnitude in the history of the department,” stated Conway Fire Department Assistant Chief Todd Cardin. “We are grateful to First Community Bank for allowing us this once in a lifetime opportunity to train in these buildings.”

On Tuesday, May 25th, the bank will be at the site providing a free lunch for all first responders in Conway from 11 am to 1 pm. All area first responders, city of Conway employees, and Faulkner county employees are invited to come by and enjoy lunch on the bank. Music will be provided by My Country Y107. While supplies last, attendees of the event will receive a free gift.

“We are thankful to each of these heroes for their dedication to Conway on a daily basis,” remarked Grant Gordy, community president for Conway. “This is just one way we can honor them as well as aid in their preparedness for potential perils in our city.”

The Conway property, located in the downtown district at the corner of Harkrider and Polk streets, is a highly visible corridor that will become a focal point once a new structure is in place. Initially a temporary building will be located on the property site that will offer drive-thru banking lanes and ATM services. Future construction plans include a state-of-the-art permanent structure that will serve as Conway’s principal location. First Community Bank currently operates at 1089 Front Street. The bank is a one-stop-financial-center offering traditional banking services as well as insurance, home mortgage, brokerage and trust services.

First Community Bank offers the Hero Rewards Club, a free reward bundle that is available as an add-on to any new or existing checking account for those who are active military and veterans, educators, firefighters, law enforcement officers and EMTs.
