Austin Simpson, First Community Bank’s senior vice president, senior regional lender for Northwest Arkansas, has been selected as a recipient of the 2023 Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC) Alumni Association scholarship by the institution’s alumni advisory board.

The GSBC Alumni Association awards scholarships to 10 community bankers annually. The scholarship must be used within the calendar year that it was awarded and is worth one-third of each year’s full tuition amount throughout the applicant’s entire three-year school experience. GSBC is a three-year program, and Simpson will be attending as a first year student this July.

“Austin is very deserving of this honor and continues to be an excellent representative of First Community Bank,” said Natalie Bartholomew, community president for Northwest Arkansas. “As a GSBC alum and faculty member, I’m thrilled for him to have this experience in Boulder over the next three years. GSBC provides an excellent opportunity to not only grow as a community banker but network with other bankers from all over the country. We are very proud of Austin and look forward to his many future successes.”

The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado is America’s Premier Community Banking School, providing banking professionals since 1950 with programming to prepare the next generation of community bank leaders for success. Their programs include the annual school session, the executive development institute for community bankers, and the community bank investments school, as well as seminars throughout the year on community bank investments and current topics on community banking.

The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado Alumni Association is an elite network of thousands of community bank leaders who have completed one of GSBC’s two core schools–the annual school session and/or the executive development institute for community bankers.

Simpson said, “It’s an honor to have been selected as one of the top ten recipients of the GSBC alumni association scholarships, and I am looking forward to spending time with them in Boulder over the next few years while learning valuable skills and making connections with other financial industry leaders.”
