The Adventure First Travel Club of First Community Bank will host a nine-day tour of Iceland in October 2024, which will include a nighttime starlit cruise in search of the elusive aurora borealis, one of nature’s most dazzling light displays.
Complete details and pricing for the tour will be available at a preview presentation to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, in the George Rider Room at the First Community Main Bank at Harrison and St. Louis Streets in Batesville.
The tour will begin on October 25, 2024, when bank customers and guests fly from Little Rock to Reykjavik, the capital and largest city of Iceland.
In addition to the Northern Lights, travelers will experience massive glaciers, thundering waterfalls, explosive geysers, and steaming lava fields from Iceland’s 32 active volcanoes.
“There are so many reasons why visiting Iceland in October is so appealing,” said Dale Cole, chairman and chief executive officer of First Community Bank. “It is the ideal time of year to chase after the magical Northern Lights. Further, our guests will discover countless geological treasures as they travel across an ethereal wonderland.”
The tour is expected to sell out quickly and offers only a limited number of spaces. Guests who attend the preview are encouraged to be prepared to secure their reservations at the event.
Other highlights of the tour of Iceland:
• Visit the natural wonders of the “Golden Circle,” straddle two continents while exploring Thingvellir National Park, and gaze at the iconic Gullfoss waterfall.
• Explore Skógar Museum, covering all aspects of Icelandic life.
• Walk on a black volcanic sand beach.
• Experience the energy at the geothermal fields of Geysir.
• Learn the volcanic nature of the island of Iceland by visiting the Lava Exhibition Center.
• See glacial lagoons filled with floating icebergs, and relax in the warm, mineral-rich water of the Blue Lagoon.
