A decade of honoring a remarkable legacy while making a difference in the lives of children will be celebrated this summer as First Community Bank hosts the Tenth Annual Howard L. House Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, at The Course at Eagle Mountain in Batesville. Proceeds from the milestone event will once again benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Independence County.
Now in its tenth year, the tournament has become one of north central Arkansas’s premier charitable golf events. What began as a tribute to the life and values of Howard L. House has grown into an annual tradition that has united golfers, businesses, volunteers and sponsors around a shared commitment to protecting children and strengthening families.
“Ten years is a significant milestone, and it’s one that belongs to this entire community,” said Dale Cole. “Every team that has played, every sponsor that has contributed and every volunteer who has given their time has helped build something that extends far beyond a weekend of golf. Together, we’ve created a lasting tradition that continues to support children when they need it most while honoring the life of a man who cared deeply about serving others.”
Howard L. House was widely respected as a businessman, mentor and community leader whose compassion for children inspired those around him. The tournament was established in his memory to carry forward that spirit of generosity, and ten years later, his legacy continues to impact hundreds of children and families across the region.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Independence County, which opened in 2018, provides a safe, child-focused environment where children who have experienced abuse can receive forensic interviews, advocacy and coordinated services in one location. As the 17th Children’s Advocacy Center in Arkansas and part of a national network of more than 700 centers, the organization serves children in Independence, Izard, Stone, Sharp and Fulton counties.
“My dad always believed that real success was measured by the difference you make in the lives of others,” said Dianne Lamberth. “As we celebrate the tournament’s tenth year, our family is overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who has helped transform his memory into something that continues to bring hope and healing to children. That’s a legacy that means more to us with each passing year.”
The Children’s Advocacy Center board of directors includes Kyle Christopher (president), Jimmy Hodges (vice president), Jason Taylor (treasurer), Micah Moody, DNP, APRN, FNP-C (secretary), Stu Smith, Brent Qualls, Johnathon Burgess, and Nicole Smith, APRN, PMHNP-BC. Emeritus board members include Dianne Lamberth, Beatrice Moore, Janis Walmsley, Dr. Pat Mulick, Ph.D., Dr. Katie Yarnell, M.D., and Arlene Martin.
